Another just as important aspect is durability, which goes hand in hand with the issue of reparability, which is particularly important with a view to prolonging the useful life of products and thus avoiding the generation of waste before its time.

TTS works daily to make cleaning more effective and efficient, without harming the environment and health. Unlike self-declarations that offer no real guarantees, the sustainability of TTS is recognised by authoritative certifications issued by independent third-party bodies after a thorough verification process. TTS has also obtained the system certification for the calculation of the carbon footprint of trolleys, which makes it possible to quantify the greenhouse gas emissions associated with manufacture, transport, use and finally disposal at end of life.

Plastic Second Life

TTS trolleys stand out for a large number of components made of recycled plastic, certified Plastic Second Life (PSV) by the Institute for the Promotion of Recycled Plastics (IPPR). The use of recycled plastic reduces CO2 emissions during production by one third compared to virgin polypropylene, whose impact is already eight times less than aluminium.

The Plastic Second Life certification applies the international standard ISO 14021 for the calculation of recycled content, ensuring the quality of recycled plastics and their traceability according to EN 15343. It also provides for regular follow-up by the certification body to ensure compliance over time with the requirements for maintaining the mark.

EU Ecolabel

The extensive TTS range includes five EU Ecolabel-certified Magic trolleys, an eco-label that guarantees low environmental impact throughout the entire life cycle, health protection and quality in design and manufacture.

The certified trolleys are made of at least 30% recycled plastic and produced without the use of metals that are harmful to human health and dangerous to ecosystems. They are also designed to be easily disassembled to facilitate eventual repair or recycling at end-of-life. Finally, they passed the strength, stability, durability and operator safety tests conducted by an independent body according to EN 16121 and EN 14073.

Carbon Footprint Systematic Approach

TTS is the first company in Italy to be certified with the Carbon Footprint Systematic Approach, the system for calculating the environmental footprint of products in accordance with UNI EN ISO 14067. Thanks to this important milestone, TTS can estimate the CO2e emissions for each phase of the life cycle of more than 500 trolleys.

In 2019, the company started a long-term offsetting programme to fully absorb emissions from the production of the Magic line, making it the first carbon-neutral trolley line. A concrete step to support important environmental stewardship projects that help safeguard endangered ecosystems, protect biodiversity and protect the work of local communities.

Durable and repairable products

Not only trolleys but the whole range of TTS equipment is designed to last several years of professional use, and their mechanisms are tested against repeated, daily use to check proper working conditions over time. For example, Dosely on-demand soaking station has been tested for 207,000 times and the tightness of the tanks containing the cleaning solution and the dosing chambers are regularly tested during assembly.

Finally, TTS is committed to always making spare parts available for the components that are most subject to wear and tear in order to further extend the product life.
