Dirt is not the same everywhere
There are environments where bacterial load is a crucial issue: we refer to the contexts related to health, from hospital public areas, corridors and wards to high-risk isolation rooms, operating theatres and intensive care units.
In all these delicate environments, the risk of cross-contamination and infection is a reality that must be faced with highly effective cleaning techniques and advanced systems, to reduce risk and deliver the highest standards of cleanliness and infection prevention and control (IPC).
Material selection
The choice of raw materials is an important factor that brings undoubted advantages in terms of hygiene.
Many products currently on the market are made with medium or low-density plastic, which makes periodic cleaning and complete disinfection of the surfaces impossible due to their textured profile and high porosity. Furthermore, some types of plastic can be damaged by the detergents and disinfectants used, irreparably compromising the products.
TTS plastic trolleys are made using high-density premium polypropylene: this is the only way to obtain smooth surfaces that are easy to clean and disinfect and resistant to all types of detergents and disinfectants, ensuring maximum hygiene and long service life.
Carbon neutral
Magic trolleys are made using high-density polypropylene, a low impact material that generates fewer CO2e emissions than aluminium, stainless steel, and chromed iron.
Besides, many Magic trolley components also contain recycled PSV certified polypropylene (Plastic Second Life) which further reduces its emissions footprint.
In 2019 TTS started a long-term commitment to fully compensate the emissions associated with the annual production of Magic trolleys, thus making it the very first carbon neutral trolley line.
This financial commitment continues to support the work of important projects in responsible environmental management that not only allows the absorption of countless tons of CO2 but also helps to safeguard endangered ecosystems, protect biodiversity, and protect the work of local communities.
Practical advice on how to reduce the risk of cross-contamination
The basic principle to keep in mind is that dirt collected in one area must never come into contact with other areas.
A simple but fundamental rule is to use a separate clean cloth or mop for each individual area or surface to be cleaned: the systems that make this good practice possible are widely referred to as pre-soaking, on-demand soaking and disposable systems.
Equally important, touch-free tool systems are ideal for combating cross-contamination risk because they allow the disposal of dirty cloths and mops without touching them.
Following strict procedures where cloths, mops and tools are colour-coded in accordance with national guidelines provides additional risk protection: this simple but highly effective colour coding scheme ensures safe working practise – the primary principle being that a colour corresponds to a designated zone or functional area based on its specified degree of infection risk (Example: RED cloths, mops and tools - to be used only in Bathrooms).
Soaking systems
From today, it is possible to rely on two effective allies against cross-contamination, both are easy and simple to prepare and are instantly and conveniently ready for use.
Dosely is a soaking station that allows immediate preparation (On-demand) directly on the trolley, dispensing the exact amount of cleaning fluid required to cloths and mops necessary for cleaning operations – maximising efficiency whilst preserving chemical life and minimising wastage.
Thanks to the use of the Hermetic bucket, it is possible to speed up sanitizing operations whilst also reducing operational costs.
Touch-free systems
TTS has designed and built highly hygienic systems to avoid any kind of contact between hands and dirt.
The innovative Blik, Trilogy and Uni System frames allow the easy release of the used cloth using a special pressure mechanism on the frame while with the Pockety system you simply pull the frame off the lid and the used mop is released directly into the bucket.
Dusting systems
TTS dusting systems capture and eliminate dust quickly and effectively, efficiently retaining the dust to avoid escape and further dispersion into the environment.
High performance is combined with maximum hygiene: the extensive range of disposable cloths provides greater management and control of cross-contamination.
Microfibres
Microfibre is the best solution in terms of dirt collection power: its highly effective mechanical action alone ensures the collection of more than 95% of the bacteria, thus affording a reduction in quantity and aggressive power of the chemical solution if appropriate – when combined together they guarantee optimum cleaning performance and sanitisation.
TTS offers a wide range of high-quality microfibre, to give the best solution according to the different type of surface being cleaned.
Disposable mops and cloths
Disposable mops and cloths guarantee maximum control of cross-contamination as they allow you to clean each area with a fresh, clean cloth or mop.
TTS disposable cloths and mops for dusting and washing are the ideal solution to guarantee high performance and high hygiene standards: the unique range allows cleaning of any type of surface, efficiently removing different degrees of dirt.
Colour-coded
TTS offers a wide range of colour-coded cloths and mops, with coloured fibres and supports, and others identifiable through special multicolour removable labels that allow correct risk management at low prices.
For more effective management handles, frames, buckets and other essential tools can also be colour-coded to support cleaning protocols in the most demanding of environments, thanks to the wide and unrivalled range that TTS offers.
